Lately, we all heard strong appeals for Hillary Clinton to quit the Democratic race not only to allow Senator Obama to focus on the November Election, but also for the sake of the Democratic Party.
I agree that the Democratic Party is and will be shacked up by that unprecedented primary; Sure, it seems mathematically impossible for Senator Clinton to catch the Illinois Senator in pledged delegates and win the nominations but there is one thing that each and everyone of those calling for Clinton to quit the race should keep in mind: until Barack Obama does not win the necessary majority to capture the nomination, there is no reason for Senator Clinton to quit.
First, if Senator Obama is the uniter as he claims he is, he should be able to win the nomination without having his opponent letting him win it easily. Let's remember how McCain managed to effectively win the GOP nomination despite the refusal of Governor Huckabee to quit.
Second, it would be in the interest of Senator Obama to still have Senator Clinton in the race for the following reasons:
-It will help him stay current and be exposed to more Americans than if the race was already over. This is a truth for Senator McCain who is currently struggling to make the headlines and is exemplified by his Bus Tour.
-If he is really committed about bringing Change as he proclaimed, that race should help him definitely expose what is left of the old guards, the Clintons and McCain among over, thus give him a great boost for the general election.
-It sends a message of toughness, determination, and patience which are characters comparable to those of JFK.
-Most importantly, if Senator Obama manage to win the majority of delegates, and you read it here first, he will win the presidency in a huge landslide.
The point is that with Clinton still in the race, Barack Obama has the unique opportunity to win both the Democratic nomination and the general election at the same time.
